Prague, Czech Republic: Mystical Bohemia

To get a taste of Eastern Europe without going all the way to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and more —- Prague is your best bet.

One cannot grasp the beautiful oddity Prague possesses. As childish as it may sound, but it’s like Magic Kingdom. If you could juxtapose the heroic, triumphant war conquests of Western European countries  to Czech Republic’s, the latter’s people would laugh about their own with bottles of beer on hand. No matter how outlandish their historicity may be, it adds to their Bohemian charm; hence tourists, like me, are enamored.

For one, Franz Kafka was born here and cultivated his literary pieces here.

Second, the famed Astronomical Clock (or known as Prague Orloj) built in 1410 continue to draw crowds. It depicted the medieval perception of the universe, where Earth is the center (Ptolemy, may you rest in peace).

Third, the journey to the Prague Castle is nothing short of a great experience. Holy Roman Emperors and Bohemian Kings used to live here, with their mountain-top abodes resembling that of a Panopticon.

Fourth, as random as it may seem, Eurotrip was shot here! Remember the cast’s faces when they were doomed in “Bratislava”? Bratislava, Slovakia is actually just one train ride from Prague, so it was tempting to dash there. But because of time constraints, we had to do the next best thing - buy ABSINTHE (Green Fairies, anyone?) from the local shop. I still have the small bottle in my desk and I have not yet dared to taste it. We’ll see about that in a few days ;p

Oh Praha, you are the apple of my eyes. A perfect score in my book! <3

A sociocultural examination of the world. Or maybe it's just a traditional blog where I can record travel experiences because it would be shame to forget them.
