Las Meninas by Diego Velasquez at the Museo del Prado, Madrid, Spain. I vividly remember one lecture day conducted by my Western History professor, Mr. Manaois, who extensively discussed the best Renaissance artworks in Italy and Spain. One of the paintings that struck me was the Las Meninas (The Maids of Honor, 1656), done during the Spanish Golden Age. King Phillip IV commissioned Velasquez to paint him and his wife, but interestingly Velasquez showed him the painting from the King and Queen’s perspective! At the center is their daughter, Infanta Margarita and her servants, plus Velasquez at the left handside.
It was really surreal seeing this masterpiece at the Prado. And I never expected it to be so big.

A sociocultural examination of the world. Or maybe it's just a traditional blog where I can record travel experiences because it would be shame to forget them.
